“…God showed me that's where I needed to be…”

Meet Jessie,

“I'm the chef and owner of Brunchaholics, which is a grab and go restaurant now located in DeSoto, Texas. I make food that's fun, new, fresh, and delicious. We specialize in offering “off the wall” brunch menu items.

What makes me passionate about cooking is the creation of it. I enjoy trying out different meals, seeing how flavors come together, and combining different cultures, as well. I have a big family, so anytime we have a graduation or a birthday, it's 40 or 50 plus people. I've been cooking in group settings like that since I was a kid. After graduating college, I started working in kitchens to get real world experience until I got my confidence up enough to basically go out there on my own. I have been in business since 2017 through caterings, popups, and things of that nature, and then I started selling food at the Dallas Farmer's Market on the weekends. This how I got a lot of my clientele and really built up my brand, and then Covid came, so we had to cancel everything. I dove more into the popups, private dinners, and I then saved up money and opened a restaurant.

I heard about The Business Cohort through a good friend of mine who was already applying to be in it as well. Before the cohort, everything I learned about running business basically was from myself, trial, and error, putting myself out there and trying to figure out what's the best way to move. Going into The Business Cohort, I honestly didn't know what to expect. I had just found out on the prior Monday that I would have to close my first restaurant. I was in a very dark place mentally, spiritually, and the cohort starting is what lifted me up the most when I wasn't in a good place. I thought about not going, but I went through it, and I pushed through anyway. I feel like God showed me The Business Cohort is where I needed to be - that maybe my restaurant closing wasn't the end all be all, and this happening was for me to go to another level and meet more people who more aligned with what I needed to do to further my vision. I came back week after week because I just wanted to learn more. Going to the cohort helped me change my thought processes of how I approached my business and how I looked at my business.

The leaders have been nothing short of amazing. My mentor is Kacie (TBC Business Coach), and I love her to death. She has taught me so much. She really helped me think about growing my business vertically instead of constant expansion growing out of my business. Running a business is definitely hard, but it's also rewarding and it's self-fulfilling, which is what I enjoy about it.

Thank you to The Business Cohort for everything they've done for me.”
